I was very sick and had difficulty in breathing. The doctor simply came to me and said your test results show that you have Corona Virus. He didn't even consider prescribing a medicine that will help me with the couph and chest pain. I also asked for the test results so I can send them to my employer to excuse me from work but they didn't provide me with the test results. They asked me to login and see the results online. I loged in but there wad no recent test results on there.

I was hurting so bad, but Dr. Marcine Walter, helped me out. She was the most compassionate, Doctor. She was as kind as she was good. She was always checking with me to see if I was comfortable and not feeling any pain, as she went on with what she was doing. She really took her time. I could not have had any better care. The office worker (Amber), was very kind and courteous and helped me sign in on my phone, which I was having trouble with. I would go back to this urgent care in a heartbeat.

About Hepatitis test

Who should get tested for hepatitis?

According to the CDC, anyone who is at risk of exposure should get tested for hepatitis. This includes individuals who have been in close contact with someone infected with the disease, those who have engaged in unprotected sex, and individuals who have shared needles or other drug paraphernalia. Additionally, anyone born between 1945 and 1965, a group identified by the CDC as having a higher rate of hepatitis C, should also be tested. In Detroit, given the city's population density and the prevalence of hepatitis, it's crucial for residents to understand their risk and consider testing.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for hepatitis is vital as it can prevent serious health complications such as liver disease and cancer. It also helps to curb the spread of the disease within the community. According to the CDC, many people with hepatitis do not know they are infected, which can lead to unknowingly transmitting the disease to others. Early detection through testing allows for timely treatment and can significantly improve health outcomes.

Hepatitis testing options in Detroit, MI:

Urgent care and walk-in clinics

Urgent care and walk-in clinics are convenient options for hepatitis testing in Detroit. These facilities often have shorter wait times compared to traditional healthcare providers. HMC Urgent Care in Hamtramck and 1st Choice Urgent Care in Dearborn are two nearby locations that offer hepatitis testing. Both locations can be booked for same-day or next-day appointments through Solv’s website and mobile app.

Primary care providers

Primary care providers are another reliable source for hepatitis testing. They can provide comprehensive care, including testing and treatment options. If you have a primary care provider in Detroit, consider reaching out to them for a hepatitis test.

Free STD testing and community health centers

For those without insurance or with limited financial resources, free STD testing and community health centers in Detroit offer affordable hepatitis testing options. These centers are committed to providing accessible healthcare services to the community.

At-home testing

At-home testing kits are another option for those who prefer privacy and convenience. These kits can be ordered online and delivered directly to your home. The sample collection process is simple and the results are sent back to you confidentially.

Prevalence of hepatitis in Detroit

Detroit, located in Wayne County, has seen a significant number of hepatitis cases. According to the CDC, Wayne County consistently ranks high in the state for hepatitis infections. Comparatively, nearby counties such as Chautauqua County and Beaver County have lower rates of hepatitis. It's important for Detroit residents to understand this prevalence and take appropriate steps to protect themselves.

Risk factors related to hepatitis in Detroit

Several risk factors contribute to the prevalence of hepatitis in Detroit. These include high rates of injection drug use, unprotected sex, and a lack of access to preventive healthcare services. Socioeconomic factors such as poverty and lack of education also play a role in the spread of hepatitis in the city.

Other STDs in Detroit

In addition to hepatitis, Detroit also has high rates of other STDs such as gonorrhea, chlamydia, HIV, and syphilis. Like hepatitis, these diseases can be prevented and managed with regular testing and treatment. It's important for residents to be aware of these risks and take advantage of the testing services available in the city.
