Everyone was wonderful from front desk, to X-ray tech, to physician. The care was great.  The only thing I didn’t understand was why you have no durable supplies , like ask arm sling, which for the cost of the visit, should have been included.  I would highly recommends Urgi Care to my family and friends.

Getting Tested for STDs in Shorewood, IL

Who should get tested for STDs?

Anyone who is sexually active should consider getting tested for STDs. This is particularly important for individuals who have multiple sexual partners, those who do not consistently use protection during sexual activity, or those who have symptoms of an STD. Even if you do not fall into these categories, regular testing is a good practice for maintaining sexual health. It's important to note that many STDs can be asymptomatic, meaning they show no signs or symptoms, but can still be transmitted to others.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for STDs is crucial in maintaining not only your health, but also the health of your sexual partners. Early detection of STDs can prevent serious health complications such as infertility, certain types of cancer, and increased susceptibility to HIV. It can also prevent the transmission of the disease to others. According to the CDC, regular STD testing is a key component of preventative healthcare.

Std testing options in Shorewood, IL:

Urgent care and walk-in clinics

Urgent care and walk-in clinics are convenient options for STD testing in Shorewood, IL. These facilities often offer same-day appointments, reducing the need for long waits. Midwest Express Clinic in nearby Bolingbrook, for example, is highly rated and known for its short wait times. You can book same-day and next-day testing appointments at these locations through Solv’s website and mobile app.

Primary care providers

Primary care providers are another option for STD testing. These healthcare professionals can provide testing as part of a regular check-up, or during a visit for a specific concern. Keep in mind that you may need to request these tests, as they are not always part of routine exams.

Free STD testing and community health centers

For those without insurance or with limited financial resources, free STD testing may be available at community health centers in the Shorewood area. These services are often provided on a sliding scale, based on income.

At-home testing

At-home testing kits are another option for STD testing. These kits can be ordered online, used in the privacy of your own home, and then sent back to a lab for analysis. Results are typically available within a few days.

Prevalence of STDs in Shorewood

The prevalence of STDs in Shorewood, IL, is reflective of the broader trends seen across Will County and the surrounding counties of Fulton, Williams, Defiance, Paulding, and Mercer. According to the CDC, there has been a steady increase in STD cases over the past few years, mirroring the national trend. It's important to note that these numbers only reflect reported cases, and the actual number of infections is likely higher.

Risk factors related to STDs in Shorewood

Risk factors for STDs in Shorewood are similar to those in other areas of the country. These include unprotected sex, multiple sexual partners, and lack of regular testing. Other factors that can contribute to the spread of STDs include lack of awareness about STDs and how they are transmitted, and barriers to accessing healthcare services, such as cost or lack of transportation. It's important for residents of Shorewood and nearby cities like Minooka, Crest Hill, Joliet, Channahon, and Plainfield to be aware of these risks and to take steps to protect their sexual health.
