I would like to have my x-ray results. I went to Simon Met on Tuesday.

I went in with what I assumed was ear and sinus infections. The staff was very kind and friendly. Without scheduling an appointment, my wait time was maybe 5-10 minutes after completion of paperwork and I was seen shortly after going to the exam room. The PA/NP was kind, friendly and thorough and had me on my way quickly with prescriptions sent to the pharmacy immediately.

I went to have my ears syringed as I’ve just had my hearing aids cleaned, and my audiologist recommended the procedure. Brian has syringed my ears before and does an excellent job.

Came in for a dog bite. Doctor was awesome. Nurse gave me a tetanus shot and put the bandaid one not even where the incision was given. Called in a prescription...put Frys on the form...they called it into a Walgreens. ???

My son has been seen several times at other urgent cares in the valley for nasty cough that's lasted over 4 weeks and I was dismissed each time. The NP that worked with us tonight listened carefully, took care of my baby, and got him the treatment he needed. I am very thankful for her!

I was hesitant in the beginning because I assumed I’d be rushed and not heard. I was quite surprised, the virtual visit was my first and I must admit that the physician’s and bedside manner was even better than any office visit I’ve had in years. And the phone representative went above and beyond to help me correct my payment error. C  The staff at the facility was just as professional caring and friendly.

I got sent home from work! Went straight to urgent care and boy did I have a good time! Laughed with the chic at the counter! Then my nurse was sooooo sweat polite... Friendly attentive! Then... doctor Dan!! Super cute and sweet.. He looked out for my heart issues and made sure I got meds that weren't going to give me anxiety because sometimes I feel like the heart medication gives me anxiety! Thank you to everyone!! Heck yeah I'd recommend this location!!

I appreciate that I was able to walk in without an appointment.   However, I don’t feel Juan took any real time to hear me out.  He talks rushed, behaved rushed, and have his explanation rushed.  You don’t get to help a patient if you don’t actually listen to the patient.  I was told I have an abnormal ekg reading along with some concerning symptoms I’ve had and then told I have nothing to worry about. To me it seems like he was eager to go sit back at his desk.  With a clinic as empty as this one, I don’t see what the rush was about.

Needed to be seen urgently for a possible UTI. Could not see my PCP for a month so we did a Urgent Care search on GOOGLE and found NextCare right down the road from our house. Getting an appointment online was easy and had an appointment set for 20 minutes...I was impressed. We jumped in the care and went straight over. Checking in and the staff were great. The wait time before taking back for my screening was minimal and the care given by PAC Jennifer Guitierrez was exceptional...she made me feel very at ease with my situation and I greatly appreciated that. NextCare on McDowell will be our first choice for future urgent care needs. Thank you all!!

I had frostbite on my finger from 30 years ago every so often it opens up and bleeds. I put a bandage on it and the bandages kept slipping off so I put tape around it and I put it too tight bandage every two days but it wasn’t getting any better, so I came to urgent care and they took care of it. Great job.

Medical Assistant listened honour concerns and reasons for need of rapid covid test amd was very nice and patient with us. To be safe they hadnua wait in our car until they were ready for us to ensure the health safety of their patients in the clinic and limit amy possible exposure.

I went in for a rapid covid test. There was a 6 hour wait. Totally understandable considering the chaos we are in. But the staff were informative friendly professional the whole 9 yards!! They are amazing and thank you for being there so late. I was done a little after midnight and I know there were people behind me in line. Again yes the wait was long but the staff was amazing.

- Verified patient on 6/10

The two ladies who helped me were very kind and efficient. I only waited about 20 minutes and I was only in the building about 15. The had to get a Covid test and the woman who administered was sweet and gentle with the test. Super happy I had her assisting me!

Next care is always a first choice for me. I needed a fast Covid test in order to see my husband in a nursing facility and the test just took about a half an hour. You guys made it so simple. In a complicated world thank you for your help.

- Verified patient on 9/21

The wait time was over two hours, not good! However, watching the girl at the desk handle a steady stream of people coming in wanting a walk in Covid test was a lesson in what patience is all about. People were sick and annoyed they weren’t taking any more walk ins that day and she was unbelievably sweet to them all, even the ones that didn’t deserve it! I’d recommend this clinic even though I had a terrible wait time. It is Covid Crazy right now.

- Verified patient on 1/4

Today we got to the clinic and we scheduled an appointment at 2:15 we waited 1 hour until they called us in for a covid test than we got in and the power went out and we were there for an even longer time and it just doesn’t make sense of why we had to make an appointment if we had to wait an hour. They need to fix their times that they schedule the patients.

- Verified patient on 2/16

Had an appointment for 9am, for Covid test. Was told to be 10 minutes early to fill out paper work (I did) . Filled out paperwork in my car and was told that I would get a call when they were ready for me. Wasn’t called until 9:45 . Once I got in the care was awesome the staff was friendly and the place was clean

- Verified patient on 12/23

I was very nervous about getting a COVID test and the staff put me at ease right away. Everyone was so friendly and caring, especially my nurse. She was kind, answered all my questions, and the test didn’t even hurt. I would highly recommend this Urgent Care. Thank you!

- Verified patient on 10/31

I was so happy to find a place on short notice. The staff was awesome. The provider that did my covid test was very friendly and helpful. My wait time was almost 2 hours. The check in time was convenient. I have no insurance so it should be no cost to me.

- Verified patient on 11/6

Excellent and professional staff. I was treated at the Next Care at *** W Northern Ave in Glendale, AZ. I remember names Chloe and Maria. As well as a female doctor, with a sister in the Air Force. All friendly, professional, and caring. Also the staff admin was efficient. Getting approval for my COVID test through my insurance was a snap. Visit was overall easy and convenient. Would definitely recommend and use Next Care again, especially this location.

Waited a total of 4 plus in my car hours to get COVID tested . I understood Because i was A walking though . And during this pandemic I’m sure the staff is overwhelmed . Overall once i got in the staff was friendly which i appreciated considering how overwhelmed they are

- Verified patient on 6/17

Everyone is very kind and accommodating. Even with the surge of patients the staff was very compassionate. They made my son feel comfortable, especially with getting a COVID test. The only downfall was there was a wait time even with an appointment but I understand with Covid. Thank you!

- Verified patient on 8/30

I specifically went to a far location to get my kids tested for a drive though covid test as the location near me didn’t offer that. They made our appointments 30 mins apart and only had 3 appointment slots but the woman on the phone said we should all be able to get tested. When I got there I explained and they said only those with appointments could get tested so I had to give my appointment up for my son to get all three kids tested. They told me to come in the facility to get tested when I told them I wanted to stay in the car and do the drive up. I could have chose the location closest to me and not wasted my time driving if that was the case. Staff was friendly, but everything was screwed up other than that. I also had to wait 40 minutes in the car before they were ready for my appointment. No one was in the waiting room.

- Verified patient on 6/26

Unfortunately had to go in for a covid test thankfully came back negative but the people were very friendly very nice compassionate the only problem I had was all the trash in the parking lot I did recommend this place to several other my family members and they went as well and getting results was very quick they said 24 to 48 hours we had it before 24 hours that was good news I've always recommended this facility and I'll continue to recommend this facility

- Verified patient on 12/31

Came in for a COVID test, and I had 15 patients in front of me and a 2 hour wait, which they asked I do in my car for safety to minimize people in the building. Once I got in, it was explained that this was because they were doing the rapid test with results in 15 minutes, hence the longer wait time. Totally worth it for the quick peace of mind and the knowledge they were doing everything to keep everyone safe. Greatly appreciated.

- Verified patient on 11/4

Staff was very polite - wait time was longer than expected but gad that they are still seeing patients and administering COVID tests. Wish they could update website - no way to make appointment- only showed 2 days and said they were booked. Nice system for check in and then follow up call for pertinent information. Test was fast.

- Verified patient on 6/28

I came for a COVID test. The staff was friendly & efficient. From the front desk to the NP and even the woman who did the nasal swab. It was the least painful & quickest process. I tested positive & they were professional & supportive. I was/am so thankful for them!

Impressive how efficient the care team is at the 94th & northern AZ location! This is is our second time here for rapid covid tests. Paula roomed us both visits to your urgent care. Was seen by the Dr today who presented us our Negative covid results, whew! Appreciated how personable and kind our doctor was. Thanks to all at this location for such quality and caring services! Your team is amazing!! Jim and Kathy

It was a very nice experience except I was assured by the 1-800 folks that this site had the rapid Covid tests (that's why I went here), they didn’t have rapid tests. The staff were still very nice. I would definitely return.

- Verified patient on 1/16

My son and I went in for a COVID test and were pleased that we could get an appointment for the next day and understand that because of the situation it was ok that it took a little longer to be seen.

Glendale COVID Testing & Rapid Testing

Types of COVID Tests

There are two types of coronavirus tests (COVID-19 tests) available, those that can test for a current infection (viral test) and those that can test for a past infection (antibody test).

Viral COVID testing can be done in a few different ways, the most common being nose swabs, but saliva tests are becoming more popular. Some tests are processed out on-site and can provide results in as little as 30 minutes. These are called rapid COVID tests. The majority of tests, on the other hand, are collected at the clinic on-site and then submitted to off-site labs for processing. Results can take up to 2-3 days to arrive.

Antibody testing looks for a past infection and may not reveal if you have an active COVID-19 infection because antibodies can take up to three weeks to form in your body. The presence of COVID antibodies may help to prevent you from becoming infected with the same virus again; but, because the clinical understanding of COVID-19 is still developing, it's unclear how long that protection will continue.

Who should get tested for current infection

The CDC currently defines four instances where COVID testing is recommended:

  1. If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 including fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, or diarrhea.
  2. If you have been in close contact with someone with confirmed COVID-19. Close contact is defined as within 6 feet for a total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period. If you have been vaccinated, or tested positive in the past 3 months and not experiencing symptoms, you do not need to be tested.
  3. If you are unvaccinated and participated in high-risk activities where distancing is not an option. This could include travel, large social or mass gatherings, crowded indoor settings, etc.
  4. If you have been referred to get a COVID test by your healthcare provider or local health department.

How is testing done for COVID-19?

Most COVID tests are collected by a nasal swab. A member of the medical team puts a swab inside your nose for a few seconds on each side to collect the sample. After that, the samples are packaged according to CDC guidelines and tested on-site or transported to a facility for testing. The lab will test samples for the presence of the coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), which causes COVID infection and either your care provider or the lab will notify you with the results as soon as they are available.

PCR vs Antigen Testing

Viral COVID tests are available as molecular and antigen tests. The molecular test, also known as a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test, usually delivers results within a few days since most of these tests are sent to offsite labs for analysis. The average turnaround time for PCR test results is 48 hours, but in some instances may be significantly longer due to backlogs related to insufficient lab volume and capacity. Antigen tests are also known as rapid tests and have an average turnaround time of between 15 to 30 minutes.

Both PCR and rapid COVID tests can be used to test people exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, those who were close contacts to COVID-19, and those without COVID-19 symptoms who live or work in a high-risk setting (such as a nursing facility); or those individuals who are identified as part of outbreak detection and response. The rapid COVID test is also recommended for the screening of residents or healthcare workers at skilled nursing facilities along with a PCR confirmation, and for repeat screening for the early detection and prevention of outbreaks in congregate settings (such as schools, workplaces, and prisons).

COVID testing is available for free under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which includes testing for those without health insurance. To reduce the risk of facing extra costs related to COVID testing, ask your primary care doctor to recommend a free COVID test site, and confirm there are no charges or fees for the test that are not covered by your insurance plan. Additionally, avoid getting a COVID test at a hospital or free-standing emergency room, as these facilities may charge fees for COVID testing and related services.

COVID-19 Testing FAQs

  • How much does COVID testing cost in Glendale?

In many cases, COVID testing can be free. Many state and local health departments continue to offer free testing to community residents as part of their response to the pandemic. In other cases, commercially insured patients, or those on Medicare or Medicaid, may receive testing at no out of pocket cost, or with a nominal office visit copay. For cash paying patients, or those that need rapid COVID testing which will deliver results in under an hour, COVID tests can range from $50 to $150 each. It is best to call your healthcare provider prior to getting tested to better understand the cost of the specific test you require.

  • Where can I get free COVID testing in Glendale?

COVID testing is available for free under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which includes testing for those without health insurance. Check with your Glendale-area health department as they are generally a good source for free COVID tests, or can at least point you in the right direction. Additionally, you can ask your primary care provider to recommend a free COVID test site.

  • Where can I get COVID testing in Glendale?

COVID testing is available at many outlets near Glendale including urgent care centers, retail clinics, primary care offices, health departments, and more. Different venues will have different types of tests available, many at different price points. Some testing sites are allowing walk-in patients, however, many are still requiring some degree of advance booking to control patient volume.

  • Where can I get a rapid COVID test in Glendale?

Rapid testing—both PCR (molecular) and antigen tests—is offered through many Glendale-area urgent care centers and physician offices, usually at an additional cost ranging from $50 up to $150 per test. Usually this will allow you to get results back in under an hour, and require advanced booking through the provider. However, if you can wait 24 hours for your results, many labs are turning around send-out lab tests in that time frame, which could save you some money.

  • How to make an appointment for COVID testing in Glendale?

Same-day and next day appointments for COVID testing in Glendale are bookable directly through Solv. Simply browse the list of healthcare providers conducting COVID tests above, find one with a “Book Online” button, and book a time that aligns with your schedule stating “COVID-19 Test” as your reason for visit.

  • Can I get tested for antibodies if I am sick with COVID-19 Glendale?

An antibody test for COVID-19 might inform you if you previously had a coronavirus infection. Because it can take between 1–3 weeks after an infection for your body to develop these antibodies, an antibody test during an active infection would not be successful. To see if you are currently infected, you need a viral test.

  • Do I need a COVID test if I have been vaccinated?

Even if you have been fully vaccinated, if you have been exposed to someone who has COVID-19, experts believe that you should be tested yourself, particularly if you are experiencing cold and flu symptoms commonly aligned with the coronavirus.

  • How long does COVID testing take?

Getting a COVID test is quick. Most tests are done with a nasal swab, which takes less than a minute to swab both nostrils. Depending on where you get your COVID test, this means you could be in and out of the testing site in as little as 10-15 minutes. During busy times—particularly around holidays—testing sites may be busier than usual and wait times may be longer.

  • How long does it take to get COVID test results in Glendale?

Most labs are returning send-out molecular (PCR) COVID test results within 24-48 hours of the test. Some sites take longer, so call and ask if the reason for the test is proof for travel. Rapid COVID tests are processed on-site and are able to deliver results in under an hour, sometimes in as little as 15 min.

  • Do COVID tests detect the Delta variant and Omicron variant?

Regular COVID tests are able to detect both the Delta variant and Omicron variant in that they can determine whether or not you have the coronavirus. However, they can't tell which variation is involved. That would necessitate genomic sequencing, which is a different process from regular virus testing that not all labs can undertake. Sequencing is uncommon and can cost up to $100 per test. Since the treatment is the same for any variant, it is not clinically useful to an individual patient to know whether the infection was caused by a variant or not.
