My eye was almost swollen shut from poison ivy, so I went in. She told me right off there would probably be around a 45 minute wait because of two other cases there, which I appreciated being told up front! Mine wasn’t an emergency so it was fine. When it was my turn to go in, it was only a few minutes before the doctor came in...They were so nice (and I wish I was better with remembering names) and the doctor made sure everything else was ok and wasn’t rushing me through. I would recommend this place....I appreciated their kindness and efficiency!

Urgent care
Lab testing
This is the best urgent care I have been to. Unfortunately urgent cares are usually notorious for subpar healthcare, long wait times, and rude, unfriendly staff. I have been here a few times as a patient and brought my children in when we have had emergencies or on the weekends when we couldn’t get in with our normal doctors. This is the friendliest and most helpful staff.

It was quick and easy. The lady that drew my blood was so nice and friendly. She did a really good job!

- Verified patient on 9/18

I used solv to book one of my appts. And between my first and second appointment I was done in 30 mins! Also the practitioner that had to draw blood for me was amazing - I wish I could take her to all of my future blood appointments

- Verified patient on 9/17

I had a blood draw. It was quick and painless. No waiting and very nice lady. Good experience.

- Verified patient on 3/17

It is always a pleasure when to have blood work done there. I should know her name, but the girl who was at the desk and drew my blood is always very friendly, efficient and an asset to UH! 😊

- Verified patient on 10/29

I scheduled my appointment online the day before the test. I arrived a few minutes early and was in the chair to have my blood drawn 2 minutes after my appointment time. The tech. was pleasant, kind and swift. Not a bit of pain. I was in and out in under 10 minutes.

- Verified patient on 4/9

The tech/phlebotomist asked which arm to use for the blood draw, which was the left. I explained drawing in the elbow area isn't really good as my veins are known to "roll" or "blow". And... I don't mind her using my hand. She said she would start at the top & work her way down. She found a vein near the elbow, inserted the needle, soon withdrew it, asked if I had been drinking more water, "Yes, last night & this morning". She then ended using a vein in my hand. I even had a knit glove on my left hand to keep it warm...a staff person from a few years ago gave me that hint since I had to return again for a blood draw. I have to go through this scenario each time. My DOB...5/31/***, and your record of my visits should indicate I've had this done many times, although my history with Compunet is less than my total years of having blood drawn. I thought I was nice to recommend using my hand, guess I should have insisted. Adults in my age group generally kn

I love my doctor and I love the girls in the lab. They make giving blood so easy and painless and are always so kind. I love UH Twinsburg.

Amazing!!! Never thought I’d say that about a lab lol. I’ve had my blood drawn many, many, many times and I’d have to say it was top notch!!! Very friendly staff and it was a perfect draw. The sweet lady taking my blood listened to me when I told her my vein was at the surface and not to go to deep or you’ll pass it. She did just that. You don’t know how many times I’ve said that and they never follow it. I’ll make sure my doctors send me there for my labs. Thanks to all of the staff,Nurses and Doctors for working during these crazy times. I appreciate all that you do for us!!!

- Verified patient on 12/3

The girls were quick and made me feel at ease and welcome. Wonderful staff!! I'll be back for any other bloodwork

A lot of people ,but it went fairly well and the young lady who drew my blood was very friendly and was one of the best drawers of my blood ,I didn’t feel a thing! Wish I would always get the same person every time.

- Verified patient on 11/13

Very inexperienced person worked with my husband recently, his arm is very bruised two days later after a blood test. We have never experienced this outcome before at your facilities. This person needed help with this procedure and seemed unprepared to handle this work.

- Verified patient on 4/16

I made an appointment for today and was taken right back to have my blood drawn. The staff was exceptional! Friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. The sign in process on the iPad was easy to complete as well. I would highly recommend CompuNet. Thank you for taking great care of my needs.

- Verified patient on 7/17

The staff was awesome. Always fast and easy to get too. Only I do not like your website at times. It normally takes a couple times to get an appointment for just blood work, plus keeps wanting ALL my info repeatedly. Even after putting my phone number in.

- Verified patient on 8/2

My appointment was a very pleasant visit. The staff was very friendly and pleasant. The gal that preformed my blood draw was very friendly and she did an excellent job.

- Verified patient on 3/18

Came for a blood test. I was able to go right in and was on my way home 10 minutes later. The phlebotomist was friendly and caring and I felt very little pain.

- Verified patient on 12/14

I went in, got called after a moment and switched rooms at the staff persons urging after I had trouble sitting in the chair (I am disabled). The phlebotomist came in and took my blood quickly and painlessly. It was a positive experience all the way around

About Blood Tests

Blood tests are used as valuable snapshots of your current overall health and can be an effective way of catching illness or disease early, or measuring how you are reacting to new or on-going treatment. There are a variety of types of blood work with most common tests being complete blood counts (CBC), complete and basic metabolic panels (CMP, BMP), thyroid panels, nutrient tests, and sexually transmitted disease (STD) tests.

Each of these blood tests are fairly common and can be performed in a variety of settings including testing labs, primary care offices, urgent care centers, and even retail clinics and some pharmacies. Solv even has clinic partners in the Ashland-area that offer online scheduling, allowing you to book a visit convenient to your schedule and skip the wait. The tests themselves take only a few minutes and usually are performed by a nurse or technician where they:

  1. Clean the area where they will draw blood from, usually your upper arm
  2. Tie a band to your upper arm to make your veins more visible
  3. Put a needle gently into a vein to draw blood into the attached tube
  4. Remove the needle, then the band from the vein when complete
  5. Cover the draw site with a bandage

Risks associated with blood work are very low, but could possibly include slight pain or discomfort at the draw site, dizziness or even fainting from blood loss, or vein puncture. It’s important to discuss any concerns you may have with your medical provider before the procedure begins.

Blood Test FAQs

  • Where can I get a blood test in Ashland?

In general, blood tests are available at Ashland-area medical labs, urgent care centers, retail clinics, primary care doctor offices, and many local pharmacies. • Where can I get blood work after hours in Ashland?

Outside routine work hours, most Ashland labs and primary care offices are closed, however, most of the area’s urgent care and retail clinics are open later than typical business hours and on weekends. • Who should get a blood test?

Blood tests provide a valuable look at your overall health and blood work should be done at least once a year. They offer a great way to catch illness or disease early on, or see how you are progressing with on-going treatment. Your doctor or healthcare provider typically orders blood tests for you during an annual physical or as necessary for a specific diagnosis. It’s possible to order your own blood tests without a doctor, particularly for things like STD tests or hemoglobin A1c tests.

  • Are video visits available for blood work in Ashland?

While a blood test cannot be performed over video, your doctor can both initially prescribe blood tests using telemedicine, and review results with you virtually.

  • How much does a blood test cost in Ashland?

Without insurance, blood work typically costs between $50 to $1,000, or sometimes more depending on the specific tests and the provider type you are having the tests performed at. At-home tests are available in most areas and could cost substantially less. Book a consultation with a lab testing provider in Ashland today to get more details on the specific blood work you are looking for.

  • How long do blood tests take?

Blood tests can be performed either in-office or performed on samples that are sent to an outside lab. The collection itself should only take a few minutes, and the results could be ready within a few hours or up to one to two weeks depending on the test you are getting done. Once you’ve received your results, your doctor can discuss them with you either in-person, on the phone, or through a video visit.

  • Is blood work covered by my insurance?

Most common blood tests are covered under insurance plans, particularly when your doctor orders them as part of an annual physical or supporting a diagnosis. If you are self prescribing the test, however, it may not be covered by insurance. If you have questions about your specific insurance coverage, it is best to contact your carrier or your provider.
