My visit required a follow up later in the afternoon, which was botched up at each step. Different prescriptions were supposed to be sent to the pharmacy that never came over and by the time they did come over the pharmacy closed hours later. Then the prescription that was resent was the same one as earlier in the day and the insurance company refused to cover it obviously. Communication and follow through was horrible.

Came in for pain with my left shoulder radiating under my arm on my arm and down my left side. Saw Dr.Lynch who was absolutely wonderful.she advised me to get a cat scan and MRI which is scheduled. Gave me a shot and a muscle relaxer started feeling better within a short period of time. The facility is so clean beautifully decorated and the staff were amazing and so helpful. I would highly recommend them for their professionalism and knowledge. They have long hours which is so convenient. If I ever need to go to an Urgent Care again it would be here. Thank you

Chestnut Ridge Chlamydia Testing

Who should get tested for chlamydia?

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), anyone who is sexually active can get chlamydia. However, the infection is most common among young people, particularly those aged 25 or younger. Women, in particular, should get tested annually for chlamydia if they're sexually active and under 25 years old. Men who have sex with men, as well as individuals with multiple sexual partners or those who don't use condoms consistently should also get tested.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for chlamydia is crucial as it is often asymptomatic, meaning it doesn't always show symptoms. If left untreated, it can lead to serious health problems such as pelvic inflammatory disease in women and epididymitis in men, both of which can cause infertility. Moreover, pregnant women with chlamydia can pass the infection to their babies during childbirth, leading to pneumonia or serious eye infections. Regular testing allows for early detection and treatment, preventing these complications.

Primary care providers are another viable option for chlamydia testing. They can provide testing during regular check-ups, especially if you're at risk. If you're a sexually active female under 25 or a person with high-risk sexual behaviors, it's recommended to get tested annually.

Free STD testing and community health centers

There are also community health centers that offer free or low-cost chlamydia testing. These centers are funded by the government and are an excellent resource for those without insurance or those who cannot afford the testing fees at other clinics.

At-home testing

At-home chlamydia tests are also available. These tests offer privacy and convenience, as they can be ordered online, done at home, and then mailed to a lab for analysis. The results are then sent back to you confidentially.

Prevalence of chlamydia in Chestnut Ridge

While specific data for Chestnut Ridge is not readily available, according to the CDC, New York State has a high rate of chlamydia infection. In 2018, New York ranked fourth highest in the nation for chlamydia cases. It's important to note that rates of chlamydia and other STDs can vary widely from one city or county to another, so it's crucial to stay informed about the prevalence in your specific area.
