Scheduling appt was easy, wait time after arriving was an hour after scheduled appt time. Once brought into exam room everything was addressed in an appropriate amount of time and received results quickly. Staff were all nice but would appreciate if they could update people in waiting room when they are running late and what the expected wait time is for people waiting to be seen

Very pleased with the overall experience here. Receptionist was very pleasant as well as the support staff we encountered. Saw Dr. Mary Wolter who was very personable and easy to talk to. She performed a thorough exam and answered any questions or concerns we had. Never felt rushed. Office and patient rooms were immaculate.

About Hepatitis test

Who should get tested for hepatitis?

Anyone who has been exposed to risk factors for hepatitis should consider getting tested. This includes individuals who have engaged in unprotected sex, shared needles or syringes, or have a history of drug use. Additionally, those who have traveled to countries with high rates of hepatitis, have been incarcerated, or have a family history of the disease should also consider testing. According to the CDC, testing is particularly important for those born between 1945 and 1965, as this age group has a higher prevalence of hepatitis C.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for hepatitis is crucial as it can lead to serious health issues if left untreated, including liver damage, cirrhosis, and liver cancer. Early detection can help prevent these complications and ensure appropriate treatment is started promptly. Moreover, those who are unaware they have hepatitis can unknowingly transmit the virus to others, further propagating its spread.

Hepatitis testing options in Woodbury, NY:

Urgent care and walk-in clinics

Urgent care centers and walk-in clinics in Woodbury, NY, such as Island MD Urgent Care/Primary Care in nearby Hicksville, offer hepatitis testing. These facilities often provide same-day and next-day appointments, which can be conveniently booked through Solv's website and mobile app.

Primary care providers

Primary care providers are another reliable source for hepatitis testing. Regular check-ups with a primary care provider can include routine screenings for hepatitis, especially for those in high-risk groups.

Free STD testing and community health centers

Community health centers and free STD testing clinics in and around Woodbury also provide hepatitis testing services. These centers are an essential resource for those who may not have health insurance or who prefer a more community-oriented setting.

At-home testing

At-home testing kits are another option for hepatitis testing. These kits can be ordered online, used at home, and then sent back to a lab for analysis. This option provides a high level of privacy and convenience.

Prevalence of hepatitis in Woodbury

While specific data for Woodbury is not readily available, Suffolk County, where Woodbury is located, has seen a steady rise in hepatitis cases over the years, mirroring trends seen across the country. According to the CDC, Suffolk County's hepatitis rates are comparable to those in nearby counties such as Hampshire, Worcester, and Hampden.

Risk factors related to hepatitis in Woodbury

Risk factors for hepatitis in Woodbury are similar to those in other parts of the country. These include unprotected sex, intravenous drug use, and having a tattoo or piercing done with unsterilized equipment. Additionally, those with a family history of hepatitis or who are part of the baby boomer generation (born between 1945 and 1965) are at an increased risk.

Other STDs in Woodbury

In addition to hepatitis, other STDs such as gonorrhea, chlamydia, HIV, and syphilis are also prevalent in Woodbury and surrounding areas. These diseases share similar risk factors with hepatitis, and testing for these conditions can often be done at the same time as hepatitis testing. Regular testing for all STDs is recommended for those who are sexually active, particularly if they have multiple partners or do not consistently use protection.
