Check in person was kind and patient with me while trying to complete online paperwork. I was feeling so horrible, I really didn’t have the patience or the energy to do it online. She was kind and handed me a clip board with quick forms that I was able to sign since they already had everything else. I really appreciate it.

I am a person who regularly receives B12 and vitamin shots as well as IV infusions. I had the worst experience this week when it was my first time visiting neumed modern urgent care. The doctor was very rude, did not have a gentle hand, after stabbing me three times to get my bulging vein,  they realize Metal stand that holds the IV bag is broken and that it's the only one in the facility. I have to get up from previously laying down on the table and walk all the way through their facility in pain after being stuck three times because they have one stand to hold an IV bag, don't make the mistake of going here. My arm still hurts and I didn't feel much of a difference.

AFC Urgent Care Clinic was clean, sterile in feel; fitted with the latest in tech design and equipment; organized procedurally; staffed with friendly, helpful, serious people. The doctor assigned to me far exceeded my expectations. She made me feel as if I were her sole concern, would like to keep her. I felt I was receiving the best of care. I do not have a primary care physician; however, this experience was so far removed from having to visit a doctor’s office. I did require urgent medical attention; the convenience of a walk-in clinic surpassed not having a PCP, especially when the care I received was excellent, as this was.

I had an emergency with my child and came in a Saturday afternoon. The waiting time was not bad, and the staff was super nice. My daughter was helped by the doctor and did not need to go to an emergency waiting room which saved us a lot of time. I will definitely come back here again if I have another emergency with my kids.

About Hepatitis test

Who should get tested for hepatitis?

According to the CDC, anyone at risk of contracting hepatitis should get tested. This includes individuals who have been in contact with someone with hepatitis, those who have traveled to areas with high hepatitis rates, people who have engaged in unprotected sex, and individuals who have used intravenous drugs. It's also recommended for healthcare workers, and anyone born between 1945 and 1965, as this group has a higher rate of hepatitis C.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for hepatitis is crucial because it's often asymptomatic in its early stages, meaning people can carry and spread the virus without knowing. Early detection can prevent the spread of the disease and allow for timely treatment, reducing the risk of serious liver damage and complications like cirrhosis and liver cancer.

Hepatitis testing options in La Porte, TX:

Urgent care and walk-in clinics

There are several urgent care and walk-in clinics in La Porte that offer hepatitis testing. One highly-rated location is AFC Urgent Care, located at 8850 Spencer Hwy, La Porte, TX 77571. With a 4.8 rating and over 350 reviews, this clinic is known for its friendly staff and clean facilities. Appointments can be booked same-day or next-day through Solv.

Primary care providers

Primary care providers are also a good option for hepatitis testing. These professionals can provide ongoing care and treatment if needed. It's important to discuss your risk factors and any potential symptoms with your primary care provider.

Free STD testing and community health centers

Community health centers often offer free or low-cost STD testing, including hepatitis. While these centers may not have the same immediate availability as urgent care centers, they provide an essential service to those without insurance or with financial constraints.

At-home testing

At-home testing kits are another option for hepatitis testing. These kits can be ordered online, used at home, and then sent back to a lab for analysis. While convenient, it's important to ensure the test is from a reputable source and to follow up with a healthcare provider to discuss results.

Prevalence of hepatitis in La Porte

While specific data for La Porte is not readily available, Harris County, where La Porte is located, has seen a steady increase in hepatitis cases in recent years, according to the CDC. This trend mirrors national data, which shows an upward trend in hepatitis cases. It's important for residents to be aware of this and to consider regular testing, particularly if they fall into one of the at-risk groups.

Risk factors related to hepatitis in La Porte

Risk factors for hepatitis in La Porte include unprotected sex, use of intravenous drugs, and close contact with a person who has hepatitis. Additionally, healthcare workers and individuals born between 1945 and 1965 are at a higher risk.

Other STDs in La Porte

In addition to hepatitis, other STDs such as gonorrhea, chlamydia, HIV, and syphilis are also present in La Porte. As with hepatitis, regular testing for these STDs is recommended for those at risk. Testing for these STDs can often be done at the same time as hepatitis testing, and can be booked through Solv at one of the 33 nearby testing locations.
