10/10.  Good people, quick service.  Fast scheduling, easy to do online.  Check-in was easy, no issue with the online option.  Staff were very friendly and accommodating.  They took great care of me and addressed my issue promptly.  I went at night but I was in and out in 25 minutes total time!

The receptionist never greeted me when I entered the office. She was not at the desk but was back in another office talking to another staff member. My first interaction with anyone was when the nurse called my name to be seen. The nurse and Dr were professional and friendly. When I walked back to the front there was still no one at the desk. The receptionist was again in the other room talking to another staff member. I said excuse do I need to check out and she said no you’re good. Very poor communication.

I had a rash or some kind of allergic reaction.   The PA diagnosed the symptom quickly by looking at my arm and stomach.   He said I had an allergic reaction to poison ivy and ordered a steroid shot as well as medicated cream and tablets I need to take for six days.   He was very professional.   After a day . . .,The rash is already healing.

The front desk gentleman was very nice and professional, took my blood pressure & temperature. The nurse who came into patient room told me I should have put my mask on when I had been told I was going to be getting swabbed next - I realize I was contagious but I wasn’t leaving the room and I knew I was getting swabbed - I wasn’t sure it it was going to be my nose or mouth.  Her manner & tone was not friendly.  The PA was great, very nice bedside manner, helpful and answered questions.  I had thought the clinic did PCR tests as they had done in the past but learned that had stopped some time ago. I wanted to have a PCR test done as well but was not able to.

I was so happy about the location being so close to my house. Was good parking available and was seen in about 30 minutes. The nurse took my blood for my blood test and was patience enough because my blood was low. I had a good experience. Thank you.

Irving HIV Testing

Who should get tested for HIV?

According to the CDC, anyone between the ages of 13 and 64 should get tested for HIV at least once as part of routine health care. However, those with certain risk factors should get tested more often. People who have had sex with an HIV-positive partner, those who have had multiple partners since their last HIV test, individuals who have shared needles or works to inject drugs, and those who have exchanged sex for drugs or money should be tested at least once a year. Men who have sex with men might benefit from more frequent testing, perhaps every 3 to 6 months.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for HIV is crucial for several reasons. Firstly, it allows individuals to know their status and, if positive, start treatment early. This can significantly improve long-term health and reduce the risk of transmitting the virus to others. Secondly, it can encourage behaviors that reduce the risk of HIV infection. Lastly, testing is an entry point to HIV prevention services for those who test negative but are at high risk.

Prevalence of HIV in Irving

As part of Dallas County, Irving has seen a steady increase in HIV cases over the years, mirroring the national trend. According to the CDC, Dallas County has one of the highest rates of new HIV diagnoses in the country. However, it's important to note that this high rate may be due to increased testing and awareness efforts in the area.

Risk factors related to HIV in Irving

Certain behaviors and conditions increase the risk of HIV in Irving. These include unprotected sex, having multiple sexual partners, sharing needles for drug use, and having another sexually transmitted disease. Social and economic factors, such as lack of access to quality health care and stigma, can also increase risk.

Other STDs in Irving

In addition to HIV, other STDs such as gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis, and hepatitis are also prevalent in Irving. Gonorrhea and chlamydia rates are particularly high, underscoring the importance of regular testing for all sexually active individuals. Like HIV, these STDs can be tested for at local urgent care centers, primary care providers, community health centers, and at-home testing services.

HIV Test FAQs

  • Who should get an HIV test?

Everyone between the ages of 13 and 64 should take an HIV test at least once in their lives. Some people are more likely to get HIV and should be tested more regularly. Those who have had sex with an HIV-positive partner, those who inject drugs, sexually active gay men, and those who have unprotected sex are all included. You should get checked every 6-12 months if you have any of these risk factors.

  • How do they test for HIV?

Antibodies created by your body in reaction to the virus are examined in HIV tests. A blood test or a sample of cells obtained from the inside of the cheek can be used to do this. After that, the sample is transported to a lab, where a technician will look for antibodies.

  • How long should I wait to get an HIV test?

It can take a long time for your body to build enough antibodies for an HIV test to detect the illness if you become sick. It may take 3-12 weeks for your blood to contain adequate antibodies. Even if you have HIV, you could have a negative test result during this time.

  • How long will I have to wait for HIV test results in Irving?

Because the sample must be sent to a laboratory for investigation, most HIV test results might take anywhere from a few days to several weeks. On the other hand, some Irving clinics or doctor's offices may offer rapid HIV testing, which can deliver a diagnosis in as little as 20 minutes. Rapid HIV testing involve a little sample of blood or fluid obtained from the mouth. You'll need a follow-up blood test to confirm the diagnosis if a fast test comes up positive.

  • How much does an HIV test cost?

A variety of factors influence the cost of an HIV test, including the type of test you receive, the location where you are tested, and whether or not you have health insurance. HIV testing may be provided for free or at a low cost by some clinics or health authorities. If you're a college student, you might be able to get free HIV tests through your school.

  • Is HIV testing covered by my insurance?

The majority of insurance coverage cover HIV testing. The Affordable Care Act mandates that all new health plans provide free HIV testing for those aged 15 to 65. If you have any doubts about what is covered under your individual health plan, you can always call your insurance company or go to their website.

  • Where can I get an HIV test in Irving?

Many Irving health clinics, doctor's offices, and the health department offer HIV testing. Some pharmacies with on-site clinics may also be able to give HIV testing. Even though some clinics accept walk-in appointments, making an appointment ahead of time will save you time and ensure that you receive your test on the same day.

  • Can I get a same-day appointment for HIV testing?

Yes, Solv offers same-day and next-day HIV testing appointments. We collaborate with thousands of healthcare providers across the country to make it easier for everyone to access the medical assistance they require quickly and conveniently. On our website, you can choose a physician near you and make an appointment right now.

Fill out the form to arrange an appointment at a time and location that is convenient for you. Make certain that your appointment is for "HIV testing."

  • Can I test myself for HIV at home?

Although there are several home HIV tests available, not all of them are accurate or FDA-approved. For a home test, you'll need a swab from the inside of your mouth or a blood sample taken with a finger pricker. If you get a positive result on a home HIV test, you should see a doctor to confirm the diagnosis and start treatment.
