Getting Tested for STDs in Park Forest, IL

Who should get tested for STDs?

According to the CDC, anyone who is sexually active should consider getting tested for STDs, especially if they have multiple partners or are in a new sexual relationship. This includes individuals of all genders and ages, though it's particularly crucial for those under 25, as they account for half of all new STD cases. Pregnant women should also be tested, as untreated STDs can have serious implications for both the mother and baby.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested is a vital part of maintaining your overall health. Many STDs do not show symptoms, so regular testing is the only way to know for sure if you have one. Early detection and treatment can prevent long-term complications such as infertility, certain types of cancer, and increased risk of HIV. Regular testing also helps to prevent the spread of STDs to others.
