Have been feeling bad for a few days, not really feeling myself, looks like we caught it before it moved to my chest, May have to come back and get an X-ray if I start having trouble breathing, as I have asthma. Would recommend this facility, Have been 2 times and I have received excellent care both times.

Friendly Staff

When checking in, I had to use the pad, which they already had all my information. Too much to go through when it should be the front desk person that should be going through that. Never have to be going through this.Waiting time was terrible. Waited in waiting for sometime. And then when finally in the room I waited for sometime. I was only there for a follow up for my blood pressure. The staff was caring.

I have been battling this issue for a few days now and this morning I said I had to go get checked. I scheduled my appointment online and was able to get an appointment within an hour and a half. Upon arrival after completing paperwork I was called back in less than 10 minutes. Dr. Clark and the entire staff were friendly and helpful. Dr. Clark even took the time to notice that my illness was causing my blood pressure to be elevated and one of the prescriptions would also cause it to rise so, she immediately canceled her prescription and showed me one that was can be purchased over the counter that would be safe while my blood pressure was elevated. She even made sure it had come down some before allowing me to leave. That’s great service.

Recent Physical Exam Reviews (20)

All A-OK re much appreciated Dr. Drumm. Think front desk staff should 1) tell patients who schedule an annual physical to show up in a fasted state rather than not saying a word in this regard during scheduling; 2) not ask “are you hydrated” when patient shows up for the physical, as if one knows the degree of water he or she has consumed prior to showing up and, again, without having said a word as to the importance of adequate hydration when scheduling the appointment. Think, too, that if patient has asked if showing up early for appointment is necessary and being told “no” due to paperwork being on file, your system email should not inform patient 30 minutes before the appointment that he should come 10 minutes early.

Facility very clean. Staff very friendly and no one sitting around doing nothing. Assistant got me in and got my vitals etc very efficiently. Then the PA came in and allowed me to give my symptoms. She asked a few questions for clarification and did a physical exam. Did an x-Ray. And, I was out in an hour with a diagnosis and a prescription. BTW, I am an advanced practice nurse so I could see things with a medical point of view and I have no concerns or complaints. I would like to see places like this concert to an optional cash model. Have a big menu board with all the prices posted if you want to pay cash. This might help to reduce costs.

The first nurse who started my physical had a nasty attitude and complained under her breath about having to find the color blind test booklet while doing my physical. We had a slightly unpleasant talk about it and I asked for another nurse to finish my physical. She attempted to mold the disagreement around me not arriving with a mask on but wearing a mask was not the problem, her Jack Kevorkian temperament was. Her supervisor then finished my physical with no further issues. Entire staff with the exception of this one lady was pleasant and professional.

Being new to this area. I had to update my medical card for my CDL. I was referred to AFC Urgent Medical care through a friend. I walked in and was greeted by a friendly/ professional staff member. After I finished filling out the required paperwork, I was to see the Doctor ( Very professional, friendly and personable, even though he was a Dallas Cowboy fan! )to complete my required physical. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND AFC URGENT CARE! IT WAS A GREAT EXPERIENCE! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK! THANK YOU, R Middleton.

Dr. Cash is awesome - I'd definitely want to see her again. She is very professional, knowledgeable and personable. I appreciated the friendly staff as well. The only negative thing I would add is I don't like the iPad method of signing in - having to physically touch the same screen that countless others who are sick have touched is disgusting to me. I'm sure if you were to test for germs on that iPad you would find a shocking amount of germs/bacteria all over it.

The staff was very helpful, but we were required to wear masks even though there is no mask mandate in our county. We were coming in for a quick sports physical, none of us were sick, therefore we had nothing to spread. I’m thankful we got what we went there for, but I will avoid going in again because we should not have to be forced to wear a device that hinders breathing.

I arrived late due to traffic, and was assured the staff would be calling. The gentleman that asked me to provide my systems was thorough and professional. The Covid/Flu test were negative, and the doctor followed up my symptoms. She was very professional and asked questions to narrow down my issues. She conducted overall physical check, and ask for urine test. Prescribed antibiotics, and I left with a positive experience!

I brought my son in for a sports physical. The receptionist was friendly, the tech that assessed the vitals was friendly as well and knew what she was doing. Finally, the healthcare provider who performed the sports physical last name begin with an "O" I think, was friendly, professional, quick, and informative. I would recommend others to come visit, and I will definitely come back again in the future.

Very nice folks. Extremely friendly. My only comment is the person who took my son's vitals used hand sanitizer on her hand to clean the pulse oximeter and the blood pressure cuff. Wipes were right there on the container. He was there for a sports physical, but what if he was asymptomatic COVID? That was the only negative. The rest was great.

The lady who checked my daughter’s vitals. I think her name was Fancy, she was so friendly & set us at ease right away. Then Robert came in, so personable and nice. Took his time and gave a great exam. It was a last minute sports physical on a Saturday morning. They went above & beyond!

The practitioner that performed my physical was very knowledgeable!! She was nice and answered any questions I had and actually took the time to explain her answers. She was great and very professional. Wait time wasn't horrible although it could be better and the friendliness of the other staff was fair as well.

Tennessee Physical Exams

As part of a doctor's routine checkup, a physical examination is usually performed. Learn more about what happens during a physical exam to better prepare for your next medical appointment.

Physical examination

A physical examination is when a healthcare professional examines and studies your body to see if you have a physical health problem. The four components of a physical examination, according to the National Library of Medicine, are inspection, palpation, auscultation, and percussion (NLM).

During the examination, your doctor looks over your body for any issues, such as skin flaws. Palpation is the technique of feeling your body with your fingers or hands, such as when a doctor feels for a tumor or mass, according to the National Library of Medicine.

Auscultation is a method of listening to sounds, such as your heartbeat, by your doctor. Making noises, such as tapping on various body parts, is referred to as percussion. This is usually done to determine the size and consistency of your organs, as well as the presence or absence of fluids in specific places, according to the National Library of Medicine.

The purpose of an annual physical exam

According to the National Library of Medicine, an annual physical exam can help you discover and avoid health problems you may not be aware of.

An annual physical exam is used to screen for diseases like cancer and to see whether you're at risk for certain health problems like diabetes. A yearly physical checkup, according to the National Library of Medicine, helps you to stay current on vaccines and other preventative health treatments, as well as make smart lifestyle choices that benefit your general health. Another benefit of having a yearly physical examination is that you can communicate with your doctor at any time if you develop an illness or chronic disease.

How to prepare for a physical examination

According to the National Library of Medicine, being prepared for your appointment will help you make the most of your time with your doctor and avoid unnecessary follow-ups.

First, review your family's medical history and be prepared to discuss any inherited health concerns, such as high blood pressure, cancer, or diabetes. Your doctor may use this information to assess if you're at risk for these same health problems, according to the National Library of Medicine.

Check with the National Library of Medicine to discover if any general exams or immunizations are required. If you're not sure, call your doctor ahead of time to make sure you're dressed appropriately or to make special arrangements if you need to undergo specialized tests.

Finally, the National Library of Medicine recommends making a list of issues and questions to bring up at your meeting. If you've been suffering any new or different symptoms, for example, write them down so your doctor can evaluate you for any linked health issues.

How a physical examination is performed

The manner in which your physical exam is conducted is primarily governed by your gender and age, according to the National Library of Medicine, due to differences in anatomy and health problems that impact different age groups.

Male examination

Males between the ages of 18 and 39 have their height, weight, and body mass index (BMI) measured at every consultation, according to the National Library of Medicine. Males in this age group may be asked about mental health issues including depression, as well as their food, exercise, and substance use habits. It is possible to assess your blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, and heart disease.

Males aged 40 to 64 receive the same services as men aged 18 to 39, including colorectal cancer, lung cancer, prostate cancer, and osteoporosis screenings, according to the National Library of Medicine. Men in their sixties and seventies may also be questioned about their medications and whether or not they have fallen recently.

Female examination

Females between the ages of 18 and 39 will have their height, weight, and BMI checked at each visit. Females should have their blood pressure checked every one to two years, according to the National Library of Medicine, and cervical cancer screenings should begin at the age of 21. Females in this age group may get diabetes and cholesterol screenings as part of their routine medical examination.

Women between the ages of 40 and 64 receive all of the same services as younger women, including lung cancer, colorectal cancer, and osteoporosis screenings, according to the National Library of Medicine. Routine mammograms may be performed on women over the age of 65, and they may be asked about any medications they are taking.

Lab tests

Your doctor may order lab tests to confirm or rule out one or more disorders based on the results of your physical exam. Lab tests may be utilized as part of evaluations for illnesses such as colorectal cancer and cervical cancer, according to the National Library of Medicine.

Call your doctor ahead of time to find out if you'll be getting blood tests and what they'll entail so you can make the necessary arrangements.

Following up after a physical examination

Following your physical examination, you may be called if one of your screens or lab tests comes back positive or inconclusive. Your doctor will contact you in such circumstances to discuss treatment choices or to recommend additional tests and screening. Your doctor can tell you more about what to expect in terms of follow-up after your physical exam.
