I was a walk-in. I got checked in right away. The wait time was less than 30 minutes. The assistant and Dr were very professional. The Dr asked questions and offered options to further run test or wait to see my primary Dr.

Ran out of prescription meds 2 weeks before my new Primary Care Physician appointment. Went to Indigo Urgent care for help. Stellar staff particularly Medical Assistant Meghan. Walk-in wait time of 1-2 hours turned out to be 20 minutes. Dr. Calvin Yi was super friendly and took great care of me. Wonderful experience! Super grateful and I highly recommend.

Scheduling was easy via Solv, but no coordination between Solv and the office resulted in multiple duplicate bookings and unacceptable wait time.  2:30 appointment confirmed by Solv, actual check-in 4:55.  Staff was friendly and courteous, but front desk staff was overwhelmed.  Provider and staff were prompt once I was checked in and appointment was quick and efficient.  Care and bedside manner were top notch.

Friendly Staff

Mary Bridge Children's Urgent Care is my favorite urgent care to go to. Convenient online scheduling, easy check-in process, fast wait times, concerns are addressed appropriately, friendly staff, and you're out in about an hour from start to finish. The only area that could be improved is if you have questions after your appointment, it's hard to get a hold of anyone, and then you don't get a call back. I highly recommend Mary Bridge Children's Urgent Care

Recent COVID-19 Testing Reviews (20)

This was our very first covid test. It was extremely easy to register online and pick a time slot. The location had many signs and it was easy to find and navigate through the cones. We were stopped at different check points for ID checks and which lines to enter. From arriving to departing it took about 10 minutes and most of that was driving and stopping at the check points. The staff were friendly and even joked with us a bit. We went the Tuesday afternoon after thanksgiving and it seemed empty. The test itself was awful. Now I know why they give you tissues. Your eyes run and it does hurt quite a bit. We received our results Thursday morning.

Today was the second time visiting this testing site. Both times, the experience was very positive. Scheduling online made the experience easy and quick. The wait time matched my scheduled appointment time. From my initial contact through the testing process the professional staff was helpful, friendly, and explained the process throughly, including the result stage. Thank you for making a potentially stressful process relaxing and stress free. I highly recommend the Perimeter Road/Boeing testing facility to anyone needing Covid testing. I would also highly suggest registering online to save time.

- Verified patient on 10/1

The whole experience was a super easy. Just go to the assigned lane. Pull up, give them your drivers license and insurance card at first stop. You can pre-enter this step online with their QR code. Then you pull up to the next station and they swab your nose while you sit in the car. They text you when results are in. Once results are in, you scan the QR code on the paperwork they give you. Nice people, well organized. I wish all Covid testing was so easy.

I am a disabled veteran, it was my first time using the Auburn test facility. Personnel were Professional and Considerent. Since the lockdown I only leave my apartment 1 to 3 times a month. Due to the edict of the Governor, I must get a test to perform some volunteer service this weekend. First Time in more than 2 Years! The Drive-thru Covid Testing was performed even better than the Veterans Administration!

- Verified patient on 10/28

The firefighters were extremely professional, friendly, and polite. They explained the procedure to help me with my anxieties as I heard from others that the test was painful. It actually wasn’t painful for me! The ladies who took care of registration were polite and helpful. The overall experience was very positive. I think highly of our firefighters. I appreciate all that they do for us. Thank you for providing the Covid testing free of charge today! :)

- Verified patient on 10/8

I went for a covid test and I literally drove up and waited maybe 3 mins for the car in front of me to finish getting their test. the young lady who took my information was welcoming and polite. The firefight that performed the test could see the anxiety in my face I guess because he made sure to explain the procedure and calmed my nerves almost immediately. I wish I would've gotten his name, he was amazing ( and if he sees this, YES WOMEN ARE STRONGER THAN MEN lol) I WOULD RECOMMEND ANYONE NEEDING A COVID 19 TEST TO THIS TESTING SITE.

- Verified patient on 12/15

The place is run down but clean. My only real complaint is that after I got my Covid test is when they chose to come and tell me that my insurance may not cover it. I would like to know before I had made the appointment in case I wanted to go somewhere where they do it for free or for half of what it’s gonna cost if I have to pay out of pocket. So now not only am I waiting for my result for Covid I'm waiting for my results to see if I have to pay out of pocket.

- Verified patient on 7/16

I'd made an appointment to have a Covid test done, but upon getting there I was told that due to the high volume of people, they're only doing drive up. However, one gentleman was nice enough to have me walk up because I'd arrived in an Uber. The nurses/volunteers were great! The gentleman performing the test was gentle and explained the process step by step. It was over before I could blink!

This was my first time with a drive-by covid test. There was no line. The pre registering option was great. Everyone was friendly. I had my 4 year old also test but he was sleeping. The guys that helped us were great with him. I really appreciated their happy, positive attitude as I was freaking out. Definitely recommend. I hope I dont have to return but if it do, I will go here.

After a fraught afternoon, discovering that my 9-year-old son’s home COVID test & doctor’s note isn’t enough to satisfy the Auburn School District that he has a URI vs COVID (and him being prohibited from attending in-person instruction for the past three days), the Auburn Valley Fire Authority and King County made this process seamless and so much easier than expected. I had no appointment but got right in. The staff helped me register (the young lady was amazing and so kind), we waited maybe five minutes for the cars ahead of us to get through and then the fireman who did my son’s test was awesome with him and very gentle. This stressed out mom left with a bit less stress, and I really appreciate the time, care and respect the staff showed to me and my young one. Kudos to all.

- Verified patient on 10/2

The wait times were short, and the check-in super easy. I got there before the long line formed, so I was up to the testing tent really quickly. I was nervous as all get out, but the firefighter who did my test as super reassuring and eased my nervousness with ease. The test was quick and painless, and I was back on my way in no time at all. I would definitely go back if I needed another Covid test, that's for sure! The instructions provided by the staff were clear and easy to follow, too! Thank you for making a scary day for me that much better and easier!

We were at the site for Covid TESTING, Now that shots are being delivered at the same location the (wait) line was very long as a majority of attendees were waiting for shots, a longer process. The testing lines were virtually empty but it took a long time to get separated as a testing patient vs shot patient. Separate lanes would REALLY help this situation. Still a job well done in difficult circumstances. Thank you very much!

I have a medical condition makes any touch to my face in any way causes extreme pain. The bedside manner of the doctors, nurses and/or staff that did the Covid test were so amazing and soothing that it was almost easy to fight through the pain the test caused. If i have to get tested again in the future, i will return to have them perform it. They were all very wonderful people. (I apologize for any typos)

This was by far the best covid test site my kids & I have been to. Everyone was really friendly even the guys directing traffic had friendly smiles on their faces. When my son & I took the test they let us swab our own nostrils which made my 8 year old happy & excited to do it. I remember the last place we went to in Auburn was horrible when he gave my 18 month old the covid test so this place gets thumbs up from my kids & I. Thank you for making my son & I feel comfortable about getting the covid test done.

- Verified patient on 10/9

This was my 3rd or 4th Covid test of this past 18 months, and it was by far my best. There was virtually no wait time. The staff was efficient. The test was much more comfortable than any of the past tests. It seems they have changed the protocol... to have you blow your nose (but don't wipe) and then they don't have to put the swab up so high in the nose.

- Verified patient on 9/16

This is a drive through covid test site. I made an appointment an hour ahead of time which speeded up my visit slightly but at this time of day there was no line. The layout of cones designed to handle mass amounts of cars looked confusing at first but i found it easy to navigate. Staff at the checkpoints all friendly and clear in instructions. Signage out on the roads getting to the site were also helpful

- Verified patient on 8/29

Had to get a COVID test done fast and signed up through the King County website late Thursday evening for the Boeing testing site in Auburn. Easy enough! Friday morning I went to the drive through line 20 minutes before my appointment and not many were in line ahead. The traffic-directing firepeople/staff I encountered were all friendly and masked up and gave clear instructions. And following the traffic cones was simple enough. The firepeople collecting samples were in full PPE and again friendly and clear on instructions and the results process. They gave me a sheet with my results access code on it, took my nasal swab (gently!) and then I was on my way in less than five minutes! The text message telling me my results were in was timely (within 24 hours!) and I got the result I hoped for. Thanks for all you’ve been doing, VRFA!

- Verified patient on 8/8

No one loves getting a COVID test, but this place makes it as good as it could be. This morning it was cold, rainy, and could not possibly have been a fun day for the Covid site workers to be there. Yet somehow each one was smiling, in good humor, and efficient. My thanks to each one of you, who is playing a part in getting rid of this virus.

- Verified patient on 12/21

Overall experience was outstanding. I had an appointment and arrived 3-4 min prior and the wait was very short. The staff was friendly and efficient. Most importantly it was all very quick, I think I was done in < 10 min. I also liked that staff did it for you vs doing it myself to ensure it’s done properly. I’ve done Covid testing at Walgreens twice before and this was far faster.

In the past 6 weeks this is my 4th visit to the GSA vaccination & testing site. I was there for my 1st & 2nd dose of the vaccine, then brought my elderly neighbor on the 15th for her 1st dose of the vaccine and finally today for the COVID test for travel to Alaska. Every visit has impressed me with the efficiency of the entire process along with the friendliness of everyone staffing this site from start to finish. Thank you for all that you do!

Auburn COVID Testing & Rapid Testing

Types of COVID Tests

There are two types of coronavirus tests (COVID-19 tests) available, those that can test for a current infection (viral test) and those that can test for a past infection (antibody test).

Viral COVID testing can be done in a few different ways, the most common being nose swabs, but saliva tests are becoming more popular. Some tests are processed out on-site and can provide results in as little as 30 minutes. These are called rapid COVID tests. The majority of tests, on the other hand, are collected at the clinic on-site and then submitted to off-site labs for processing. Results can take up to 2-3 days to arrive.

Antibody testing looks for a past infection and may not reveal if you have an active COVID-19 infection because antibodies can take up to three weeks to form in your body. The presence of COVID antibodies may help to prevent you from becoming infected with the same virus again; but, because the clinical understanding of COVID-19 is still developing, it's unclear how long that protection will continue.

Who should get tested for current infection

The CDC currently defines four instances where COVID testing is recommended:

  1. If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 including fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, or diarrhea.
  2. If you have been in close contact with someone with confirmed COVID-19. Close contact is defined as within 6 feet for a total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period. If you have been vaccinated, or tested positive in the past 3 months and not experiencing symptoms, you do not need to be tested.
  3. If you are unvaccinated and participated in high-risk activities where distancing is not an option. This could include travel, large social or mass gatherings, crowded indoor settings, etc.
  4. If you have been referred to get a COVID test by your healthcare provider or local health department.

How is testing done for COVID-19?

Most COVID tests are collected by a nasal swab. A member of the medical team puts a swab inside your nose for a few seconds on each side to collect the sample. After that, the samples are packaged according to CDC guidelines and tested on-site or transported to a facility for testing. The lab will test samples for the presence of the coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), which causes COVID infection and either your care provider or the lab will notify you with the results as soon as they are available.

PCR vs Antigen Testing

Viral COVID tests are available as molecular and antigen tests. The molecular test, also known as a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test, usually delivers results within a few days since most of these tests are sent to offsite labs for analysis. The average turnaround time for PCR test results is 48 hours, but in some instances may be significantly longer due to backlogs related to insufficient lab volume and capacity. Antigen tests are also known as rapid tests and have an average turnaround time of between 15 to 30 minutes.

Both PCR and rapid COVID tests can be used to test people exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, those who were close contacts to COVID-19, and those without COVID-19 symptoms who live or work in a high-risk setting (such as a nursing facility); or those individuals who are identified as part of outbreak detection and response. The rapid COVID test is also recommended for the screening of residents or healthcare workers at skilled nursing facilities along with a PCR confirmation, and for repeat screening for the early detection and prevention of outbreaks in congregate settings (such as schools, workplaces, and prisons).

COVID testing is available for free under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which includes testing for those without health insurance. To reduce the risk of facing extra costs related to COVID testing, ask your primary care doctor to recommend a free COVID test site, and confirm there are no charges or fees for the test that are not covered by your insurance plan. Additionally, avoid getting a COVID test at a hospital or free-standing emergency room, as these facilities may charge fees for COVID testing and related services.

COVID-19 Testing FAQs

  • How much does COVID testing cost in Auburn?

In many cases, COVID testing can be free. Many state and local health departments continue to offer free testing to community residents as part of their response to the pandemic. In other cases, commercially insured patients, or those on Medicare or Medicaid, may receive testing at no out of pocket cost, or with a nominal office visit copay. For cash paying patients, or those that need rapid COVID testing which will deliver results in under an hour, COVID tests can range from $50 to $150 each. It is best to call your healthcare provider prior to getting tested to better understand the cost of the specific test you require.

  • Where can I get free COVID testing in Auburn?

COVID testing is available for free under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which includes testing for those without health insurance. Check with your Auburn-area health department as they are generally a good source for free COVID tests, or can at least point you in the right direction. Additionally, you can ask your primary care provider to recommend a free COVID test site.

  • Where can I get COVID testing in Auburn?

COVID testing is available at many outlets near Auburn including urgent care centers, retail clinics, primary care offices, health departments, and more. Different venues will have different types of tests available, many at different price points. Some testing sites are allowing walk-in patients, however, many are still requiring some degree of advance booking to control patient volume.

  • Where can I get a rapid COVID test in Auburn?

Rapid testing—both PCR (molecular) and antigen tests—is offered through many Auburn-area urgent care centers and physician offices, usually at an additional cost ranging from $50 up to $150 per test. Usually this will allow you to get results back in under an hour, and require advanced booking through the provider. However, if you can wait 24 hours for your results, many labs are turning around send-out lab tests in that time frame, which could save you some money.

  • How to make an appointment for COVID testing in Auburn?

Same-day and next day appointments for COVID testing in Auburn are bookable directly through Solv. Simply browse the list of healthcare providers conducting COVID tests above, find one with a “Book Online” button, and book a time that aligns with your schedule stating “COVID-19 Test” as your reason for visit.

  • Can I get tested for antibodies if I am sick with COVID-19 Auburn?

An antibody test for COVID-19 might inform you if you previously had a coronavirus infection. Because it can take between 1–3 weeks after an infection for your body to develop these antibodies, an antibody test during an active infection would not be successful. To see if you are currently infected, you need a viral test.

  • Do I need a COVID test if I have been vaccinated?

Even if you have been fully vaccinated, if you have been exposed to someone who has COVID-19, experts believe that you should be tested yourself, particularly if you are experiencing cold and flu symptoms commonly aligned with the coronavirus.

  • How long does COVID testing take?

Getting a COVID test is quick. Most tests are done with a nasal swab, which takes less than a minute to swab both nostrils. Depending on where you get your COVID test, this means you could be in and out of the testing site in as little as 10-15 minutes. During busy times—particularly around holidays—testing sites may be busier than usual and wait times may be longer.

  • How long does it take to get COVID test results in Auburn?

Most labs are returning send-out molecular (PCR) COVID test results within 24-48 hours of the test. Some sites take longer, so call and ask if the reason for the test is proof for travel. Rapid COVID tests are processed on-site and are able to deliver results in under an hour, sometimes in as little as 15 min.

  • Do COVID tests detect the Delta variant and Omicron variant?

Regular COVID tests are able to detect both the Delta variant and Omicron variant in that they can determine whether or not you have the coronavirus. However, they can't tell which variation is involved. That would necessitate genomic sequencing, which is a different process from regular virus testing that not all labs can undertake. Sequencing is uncommon and can cost up to $100 per test. Since the treatment is the same for any variant, it is not clinically useful to an individual patient to know whether the infection was caused by a variant or not.
