After 3 days of not feeling well went to our nearest AFC UC and was greeted with friendly faces and helpful staff. Confirmed my illness with testing by Breyahana and meds sent to my pharmacy (although not a lot of explanation about meds by NP Perry - just advised to take them b/c of age related to diagnosis.) In/out in less than 35 minutes. Overall satisfied with our visit!

Kings Mountain Chlamydia Testing

Who should get tested for chlamydia?

According to the CDC, anyone who is sexually active can get chlamydia, but the infection is more common in certain groups. Women under 25 and men who have sex with men are particularly at risk. Additionally, individuals with multiple sexual partners or those who do not consistently use condoms should consider regular testing. In Kings Mountain, as in other parts of the country, anyone who falls into these categories or has symptoms of chlamydia should get tested.

Importance of getting tested

Chlamydia is a common sexually transmitted infection that can have serious health consequences if left untreated, including infertility and increased risk of other STDs. However, it often has no symptoms, so many people don't know they have it. Regular testing is the only way to know for sure if you have chlamydia. Early detection and treatment can prevent these complications.

Chlamydia testing options in Kings Mountain, NC:

Urgent care and walk-in clinics

Urgent care centers, such as NextCare Urgent Care in nearby Gastonia, offer chlamydia testing. These facilities often have shorter wait times than traditional doctor's offices and offer same-day and next-day appointments, which can be booked through Solv's website and mobile app.

Primary care providers

Primary care providers can also test for chlamydia. If you have a regular doctor in Kings Mountain or the surrounding area, you can ask them about testing during your next appointment.

Free STD testing and community health centers

Community health centers may offer free or low-cost chlamydia testing. The specific services and costs can vary, so it's important to call ahead and ask about their offerings.

At-home testing

At-home testing kits for chlamydia are also available. These kits can be ordered online, used at home, and then sent to a lab for testing. Results are typically available within a few days.

Prevalence of chlamydia in Kings Mountain

While specific data for Kings Mountain is not readily available, Gaston County, where Kings Mountain is located, has seen a steady increase in chlamydia cases over the past few years. This trend is in line with national data from the CDC, which shows that chlamydia cases have been increasing across the country.

Risk factors related to chlamydia in Kings Mountain

Risk factors for chlamydia in Kings Mountain are similar to those in other parts of the country. These include being sexually active, having multiple sexual partners, not consistently using condoms, and being a woman under 25 or a man who has sex with men.

Other STDs in Kings Mountain

In addition to chlamydia, other STDs such as gonorrhea, HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis are present in Kings Mountain and the surrounding areas. Like chlamydia, these infections can have serious health consequences if left untreated, so regular testing is important.

Testing for these STDs is available at many of the same locations that offer chlamydia testing, including urgent care centers like NextCare Urgent Care in Gastonia and Novant Health- GoHealth Urgent Care in Charlotte. Both of these locations offer same-day and next-day appointments through Solv.
