I came here and was greeted immediately by the fine staff at front desk. Within minutes I had a room and my vitals were taken. The medical assistant Karina was very kind and gentle when drawing my blood. She also helped me schedule a follow up and was patient with me as I took my time to think. Overall this clinic was very clean and I would highly recommend that anyone come here for a quick and pleasant visit.

Getting Tested for STDs in Wilmette, IL

Who should get tested for STDs?

Anyone who is sexually active should consider regular STD testing, regardless of their age, gender, or sexual orientation. This is particularly important for those who have multiple sexual partners, engage in unprotected sex, or use intravenous drugs. According to the CDC, sexually active gay and bisexual men may benefit from more frequent testing. Pregnant women are also advised to get tested for STDs, as some infections can be passed on to the baby during childbirth.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for STDs is crucial for several reasons. Firstly, many STDs can be asymptomatic, meaning you could be infected and not know it. Untreated STDs can lead to serious health complications, such as infertility, certain types of cancer, and increased susceptibility to HIV. Moreover, knowing your status can help prevent the spread of STDs to your sexual partners.

For those with limited financial resources, free STD testing may be available at local community health centers. It's important to check with each center regarding their testing services, as some may offer free testing only on certain days or times.

At-home testing

At-home STD testing kits provide a more private option. These kits can be ordered online, used at home, and then sent back to a lab for analysis. Results are typically available within a few days.
