I have been to this facility a few times when I have had to take my child in times when her Pediatrician was away. They have taken care of her and even given me a referral so that I may take her to a specialist to further evaluate her. It's not very far from my home at all. I'm glad they are also available after my child gets out of school, since her pediatrican's last appt. is at 3:30, I have time to go to Metro-UrgiCare and feel reassured.

About Syphilis Testing

Who should get tested for syphilis?

According to the CDC, anyone who is sexually active is at risk for syphilis, especially those with multiple partners or those who engage in unprotected sex. Individuals who have been diagnosed with other sexually transmitted infections (STIs), such as gonorrhea or chlamydia, are also at a higher risk. Men who have sex with men, and pregnant women, are particularly encouraged to get tested regularly due to the potential serious health complications associated with syphilis.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for syphilis is crucial as it is often referred to as the "great imitator" due to its ability to mimic other diseases. If left untreated, syphilis can lead to serious health problems including damage to the heart, brain, and other organs. Pregnant women with syphilis can pass the disease to their unborn child, which can result in stillbirth or infant death. Regular testing allows for early detection and treatment, preventing these severe health complications.
